Noise Control Engineer/ Acoustician
On behalf of our international Aerospace client, we are looking for a Noise Control Engineer/ Acoustician to join their team. The Engineer will participate in the design of industrial facilities,
layout and planning; calculate sound transmission losses, outdoor sound propagation, etc; implement sound testing and evaluation, and participate in client presentation’s with regards to acoustical aspects.
The ideal candidate will have
- 4+ years of relevant experience of facility and community acoustic evaluation
- Knowledge of construction methods
- Acoustic measurements using ISO Standards
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant study
International travel is required.

Intermediate Acoustics, Noise & Vibration Engineer / Specialist (pdf)
Golder Associates is seeking an Intermediate Acoustics, Noise and Vibration professional to join its dynamic consulting team in the
Environmental Services Division based in Mississauga & Toronto. As a member of the Acoustics, Noise and Vibration Group, you
will develop your skills by working closely with team members of the
Environmental Services Division and other Golder business units. In this role
you will work with multi-disciplinary teams on a broad range of projects both
in the field and in the office. Your responsibilities will include, but are not
limited to:
- Working with clients to develop solutions for their concerns
related to acoustics, noise and vibration;
- Management of projects of various sizes (local, national and
international);
- Development of new business opportunities;
- Carrying out field work to gather noise and vibration data;
- Assembling data for analysis and presentation in reports (namely
noise and vibration modelling, data analysis and emission inventory
development);
- Assist in the development and maintenance of systems and tools
that support the operations of the Acoustics, Noise and Vibration Group;
- Supervise, train and mentor junior staff;
- Demonstrating a “Safety First” attitude and acting as a role model
to other staff; and
- Maintaining a high standard of ethical behaviour to uphold

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
This is an intermediate / senior role suited to a candidate who
holds a degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent education and experience,
and possesses the following qualifications:
- Experience with environmental noise and vibration, including:
- Preparation of Acoustic Assessment Reports and Noise Abatement
Action Plans for the Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE) or similar agencies;
- Understanding of Canadian federal, provincial, and municipal laws,
other regulations, and guidelines pertaining to noise and vibration;
- Land-use planning experience, including noise and vibration impact
studies for residential developments;
- ISO 9613:2 noise prediction modelling with software such as
Cadna/A;
- Experience with architectural acoustic and vibration design,
including:
- Evaluating, specifying, and designing noise and vibration controls
for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems;
- Sound isolation design for wall and floor-ceiling systems;
- Room acoustics design for reverberation control and speech
privacy/intelligibility.
- Experience using sound level meters, accelerometers and data
acquisition systems;
- Well-developed computer skills—programming in Labview, Visual
Basic, C++, or MATLAB would be an asset;
- Willingness and ability to carry out field work at various project
sites (e.g., industrial, mining, aggregate, oil & gas, power generation,
etc.) under all weather conditions and at varying times of the day;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal ) skills;
- Self motivated and have the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task
and prioritize;
- Possess strong critical analysis and reporting skills; and
- Have the ability to work in a collegial environment; and,
- Membership with PEO would be an asset.

- Completed at least one undergraduate course in controls and
vibration;
- An ability and willingness to learn new and challenging concepts;
- Experience with noise prediction modelling software such as CadnaA
would be an asset but is not required;
- Well-developed computer skills (e.g., programming in either
FORTRAN, C, Visual Basic, C++, Labview) would be an asset;
- Willingness and ability to carry out field work at various project
sites (e.g., industrial, mining, aggregate, oil & gas, power generation,
etc.) under all weather conditions and at varying times of the day;
- Familiarity with Ontario’s noise guidelines would be an asset;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills;
- Self motivated and have the ability to meet deadlines;
